TTP Punjab ceases militant activities in Pakistan

PESHAWAR: The spokesman of proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Punjab Saturday announced to put an end to militant activities in Pakistan, saying the decision to this effect was reached following consultations with Ulema.

In a statement, the TTP Punjab leader Asmatullah Muavia, however, said the group would continue its activities concerning ‘Dawat-e-Islami’ on the lines of Islamic Shariah.

 He appealed to the other groups of TTP and the Government to come to a dialogue table by keeping in view the interests of Muslim Ummah.

Asmatullah Muavia called upon the government to take steps for the rehabilitation of the people displaced as a consequence of military operation in North Waziristan Agency.

“The affectees who fled to Afghanistan be brought back,” he appealed, adding, and the self-respect of tribal people be kept in view and they be compensated for losses they had to suffer.
