THE YES NETWORK INITIATES SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION AND OPPORTUNITIES IN GB

Gilgit,The YES Network Pakistan organized an opening ceremony of ‘Advancing Youth Social Entrepreneurship in Higher Education’ project funded by USAID’s Small Grants & Ambassador’s Fund Program to celebrate commencement of the project in Gilgit-Baltistan on Wednesday.

The project will promote creativity, innovation, critical and analytical thinking among the students of the leading higher educational institutions of Gilgit-Baltistan. The overall objective of the project is to nurture a new generation of young social entrepreneurs who are change agents and change makers within their communities and the country at large. The YES has signed MOUs with the Karakoram International University, National College of Commerce and Science, Gilgit College of Commerce and Economics, the Human and Enterprise Development Institute and the Karakoram Model School and Degree College.

With USAID’s assistance The project will be implemented in two phases. During the first phase, social acceptability of the program will be created by developing a team of trainers in the partner institutions on the concept of youth social entrepreneurship. During the second phase, a series of orientation sessions and competitions will be held by the team of trainers to grow innovation and entrepreneurial culture amongst students of their colleges by involving them in entrepreneurial ventures, using their creativity, ingenuity, and energy to start businesses and solve problems.

“With USAID’s support through the Youth Social Entrepreneurship Project, our long-term goal is to inspire and equip young people to become agents of positive change through their involvement in civil society, economic development and their communities.” said CEO of YES Network Pakistan, Mr. Ali Raza Khan.
