Prince Abbas Khan (1954-2022) was the third son of Late Mir Jamal Khan, Ruler of the former Hunza State and the youngest brother of Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan, the current Mir of Hunza and former Governor of Gilgit Baltistan Province.

Prince Abbas Khan completed his education from the prestigious Burn Hall School and was commissioned into the Pakistan Army under the PMA 1st Special Course. While a Major in the Pakistan Army with the 19 SP Air Defence Regiment, Prince Abbas Khan joined the elite Civil Services and graduated with the 6th Common Training Program to join the District Management Group (DMG). He also served as the Deputy Commissioner in Haripur and Bannu. Prince Abbas Khan was elevated to Federal Secretary in 2011 from where he retired in 2014 as Chairman of the National Tariff Commission.

Prince Abbas Khan was an avid sportsman and outdoors person and spent most of his retired time in his hometown Hunza. He was taken by the Almighty Allah early morning of 29th December and leaves behind a grieving wife, three sons and a daughter. May the Almighty bestow him with eternal peace.
