Fruit-processing plants: Jatoi assures Gilgit-Baltistan government of assistance

Minister for Industries and Production Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi has said that Industries Ministry will extend all possible help to Gilgit-Baltistan’s government in installation of fruit processing plants for poverty alleviation. Talking to Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Mir Ghazanfar, Industries Minister stated that his Ministry and its companies like Furniture Pakistan, gems and jewellery and Smeda would make best efforts for industrial development of Gilgit-Baltistan. 

The Governor said in GB unemployment ratio was very high, adding tourism was the only industry and as such there was vital need of industries in Gilgit-Baltistan. Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi assured the Governor that the MoI&P would facilitate GB in development of industrial sector especially gems and jewellery, furniture, installation of fruit pulps factories and opening of utility stores in northern areas of Pakistan. 

The Minister further stated that for the development of small and medium enterprises, MoI&P’s attached organisation ‘Ahan’ would expand its programme “Aik Hunar Aik Nagar” to northern areas to focus on neglected sectors of hand-crafted products. “Ahan will promote their products in local and international markets to create employment opportunities in the area and for increasing income,” he added.
