CHITRAL: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Chitral has rejected the provincial government’s decision to construct micro hydel powerhouses through the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP).

In a statement issued here, JUI Chital general secretary Moulana Abdus Shakur said the utilization of public money through a controversial NGO was not acceptable and such a step would not bring any benefit to the people. He added that the provincial government should take serious considerations before deciding over sensitive issues keeping in view the ground realities. He further said that the fund should be allocated to non-controversial organizations otherwise the failure of this project was very clear.
