The people of Gulmit, situated in Gojal Hunza, gave a warm reception to Naeema Gul, who recently became the first person of the village to graduate from Oxford University. Gul, 26, did her masters in Global Governance and Diplomacy from the first university of Europe that has produced thousands of world leaders, writers, and scientists in its more than 800- year- old official history.
The Gulmit Educational and Social Welfare Society with the collaboration of Gulmit Young Stars Club organized a reception party at the polo ground of Gulmit where thousands of men women were present to receive their star. The audience were very proud and happy on the achievement of the daughter from the village.
A small program was held where different speakers appreciated and acknowledged the efforts and hard work of Naeema in the field of education. Mr. Muhammad Ajaib, Vice President the Gulmit Educational and Social Welfare Organization praised the efforts of Samina Baig who conquered Mount Everest and added that Naeema conquered the highest peak in the field of education. One of the speakers quoted that Naeema provided a name to the degree of Karakoram International University by this great achievement as she had completed her graduation (BS IR) from KIU. Naeema is a role model for the youth of today in education, ethics, socialization, hard worker, and being a helpful human being said Mr. Nazir Muhammad Zia President Ismaili Local Council for Gulmit. The speakers addressed the social background of Naeema as her father Late Mr. Gul Muhammad left this world when his children were very small and all the credit goes with Naeema’s mother who is responsible behind the educational, moral, and societal upbringing of the children.
Naeema thanked the organizers and the public for the warm reception and shared her experience with the youth as she was at Karakoram International University and mastering from Oxford University.
Afterwards a token of appreciation was presented in the honour of Gul for the efforts and achievements by Gulmit Young Stars Club on behalf of the youth and a special gift was presented to her in regards of Gulmit Premier League soccer tournament. Naeema was named as chief guest at the football match which was being played in the Gulmit Premier League 2014.
