After the first session at Gahkuch in Higher Secondary School, the second session of ‘Milky Way Education Express’ initiated by Milky Way Youth Movement regarding career counseling held  at Aga Khan Higher Secondary School Gilgit. The session is conducted by Milky Way University Ambassadors from different universities of Pakistan including

  • Nouman Maqsood from Institute of  Business Administration(IBA) Karachi
  • Faryal Baig from University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila
  • Afsana Shaheen from National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad
  • Mehreen Shah and Fatima Shah from Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Sciences and Technology (ZABIST)  Islamabad
  • Ayyam Baig from Agricultural University Peshawar
  • Zohaib Haider from Peshawar University

The ambassadors informed the students regarding the facilities available at different levels of higher studies including admission procedures, scholarship opportunities on the basis of need cum merit basis including special scholarships available for the offsprings of Army serving and retired personals and about different undergraduate programs available. Moreover, they also guided the students about the way to apply for the quota seats reserved for the students of Gilgit-Baltistan in many government universities. Each ambassador enlightened the students about opportunities at his/her university in addition to giving them general information about the Dos and Don’ts of getting admission in universities after grade 12.

The session was very interactive as the ambassadors entertained many questions of the students about their carrier options, financial constraints attached with admissions, NTS Test, UG Programs offered at different universities and university preferences.

This volunteerism of these university ambassadors was highly praised by the school management and the students. They later termed it a right event at the very right time as they will be heading for different universities in the coming May/ June Session. They requested the ambassadors to keep updating them regarding the admissions especially at engineering, medical and arts universities.

The ambassador found the students very co-operative, confident, intelligent and concerned about their carriers. They believed carrier counseling is very important to bring forward true nation builders and a right information at the right time can save a future , cause a paradigm shift in student’s  lives and help to pave the path for them to meet the carrier, they are naturally crafted to follow.

Milky Way will continue similar efforts through a dedicated team of university ambassadors to guide the students of Gilgit Baltistan and to help them choose the best possible carrier line so that, GB could get few more gems in different fields of life.
