Sost Hunza:Labor’s protest and strike ended in the Pak-China border town: Dry Port Sost Management and Traders agreed to increase loading-unloading wages of Labours

Local labors set a protest against the low wages and discrimination in Sost Dry Port this morning. According to sources, Traders and Port Management were continuously exploiting the local labors and workers within the Sost Dry Port premises through low wages for loading and unloading containers and other vehicles. Labours told Mountains Online, “ Both big traders and few staff within the port management were blackmailing labors regarding their wages and were reluctant to negotiate “. One of the Labor Union Leader Mr, Malik Nagri told Mountains Online “ This protest successfully pursued our demands, where senior management of Sost Dry Port agreed to increase wages of labors and workers.” According to new agreement labors get PKR 14000 (previous PKR 9000) for Containers loading unloading, PKR 6000 (previous PKR 4500) for Medium Size vehicles whereas, PKR 5000 (previous PKR 4000) for small vehicles.
