Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said the incumbent government accords high priority to the development and progress of Gilgit Baltistan.
He was talking to Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman in Islamabad on Thursday.
The Prime Minister said the ongoing development projects would not only generate economic activities in the region, but reduce unemployment and poverty as well.
Nawaz Sharif assured the Chief Minister that the federal government will extend all out support to uplift of the people of Gilgit Baltistan.
The Prime Minister stressed appropriate steps to attract foreign and local tourists.
The Chief Minister apprised the Prime Minister about the upcoming elections of Gilgit Baltistan Council and discussed the names of the proposed candidates.
The Prime Minister stressed that all tickets should be given with consensus and on merit.
Later, Former Governor Khyber Pashtoonkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan also called on the Prime Minister in Islamabad today.
Matters of national importance and development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were discussed during the meeting.
The Prime Minister appreciated the role of Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan in carrying out development work and welfare projects in the province and FATA during his tenure as Governor of the Province.
Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan apprised the Prime Minister on the status of ongoing development projects and welfare schemes in KP.
