Closing ceremony of Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games today

ISLAMABAD: The closing ceremony of Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games under the banner of the Pakistan Sports Board will held on Tuesday (today) here at Liquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex.

The winner teams will be awarded medals, trophies. Eight teams from across the country including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Baluchistan, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and FATA are participating in the event.

In the men’s singles of tennis, Arham Attique of Islamabad qualified for the finals after beating Bilal Ahmed of Punjab by 6-4, 6-4. In the meantime, Islamabad beat Gilgit-Baltistan by 2-0 in the Men’s doubles tennis.

In the women’s double tennis event, Sindh beat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while Punjab beat Islamabad in the second semifinal of the event.

Mehran Javed of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa outclassed Noman of Sindh in the finals of Quaid-e-Azam Inter Provincial Squash Tournament to win the title for the province. In the first round of women’s event, Laiba Ijaz of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa beat Mehreen of Gilgit-Baltistan 3-0 while Kainat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated Omma of Gilgit-Baltistan in the other match of the day. Yaman of Islamabad beat Shumaila of Baluchistan 3-0 while Rooma Yousaf and Qasa of Islamabad won their matches respectively against Iqra and Azam Bibi of Baluchistan.

In the men’s athletics competitions, Muhammad Irfan of got first position in 3000 Steel chase while Daud Bhatti and Asmatullah Niazi of Punjab earned second and third positions respectively. Muhammad Adnan and Zeeshan of Punjab claimed first and second positions in triple jumps while Shoaib Khan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa earned third position.

In the 1500 meters women’s event, Tehreem Alam of Punjab won gold medal while Saba of Punjab and Shabna Karam of Gilgit-Baltistan earned silver and bronze medal.

In the men’s 4×400 race, Punjab team comprising Qasim, Farhan, Nasir and Shafiq won gold medal while teams from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh earned silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the first semi final of men’s double table tennis Afzal and Hafeez of Punjab defeated Shah Khan and Basit of KP by 3-0, while in second semi final Umam and Arbaz have defeated Salman and Ail of Sindh by 3-0 and qualified for the final.

In the first semi final of women’s doubles table tennis Farwa and Saba of Punjab have defeated Kainat and Iqra of KPK by 3-0, while in second semi final Amna and Maria of Punjab have defeated Farah and Iqra of Sindh by 3-2 and qualified for the final.

According to the results up to now Punjab is leading with points 973m Sindh has second position with points 411 and Khybar Pukhtun Khawa occupies third position with points 375.
