QAMAR ZAMAN REITERATES RESOLVE TO ERADICATE CORRUPTION

Lahore:HunzaNews,Saturday, February 13, 2016 – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry on Friday expressed his firm resolve to eradicate corruption by adopting zero tolerance policy against the menace throughout the country. 

During his visit to NAB Lahore Regional Bureau to review its performance on the basis of annual inspection conducted by Chairman’s Inspection & Monitoring Team (CI&MT) at NAB Lahore Bureau, he said corruption undermined development and rule of law. 

He said corruption not only caused delay in the early completion of development projects but also caused huge losses to national exchequer. 

NAB Chairman’s Inspection & Monitoring Team (CI&MT) was deputed to conduct annual inspection of NAB Lahore Regional Bureau for the year 2015. 

The annual inspection was carried out from February 10 to February 12 in order to review and evaluate the performance of NAB Lahore Bureau on the basis of newly introduced Partly Quantified Grading System (PQGS). 

Senior Member, Chairman’s Inspection and Monitoring Team (CI&MT) along with his team conducted the said annual inspection for the year 2015. He gave a detailed briefing to Chairman NAB about the annual inspection done by CI&MT and highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of NAB Lahore Regional Bureau. 

He informed that on the directions of Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Partly Quantified Grading System (PQGS) had been devised in 2014. Under this Partly Quantified Grading System (PQGS), the performance of all NAB’s Regional Bureaus was conducted in 2014 during January and February 2015 at uniform criteria. 80% marks will be considered “Outstanding/Excellent”, between 60% to 79% will be considered as “Very Good”, between 40% to 49% will be considered as “Good”, while marks less than 40% will be considered as “Below Average”. 

The Chairman NAB directed Chairman’s Inspection and Monitoring Team (CI&MT) along with his team to conduct annual inspection of all regional NAB’s Bureaus of their performance of 2015 which has stated from January 2016 and annual inspection of Karachi, Rawalpindi, KPK and Sukkar have been conducted during January 2016. The annual inspection of NAB Lahore was carried out from February 10 to February 12, 2015 and today Chairman NAB directed Chairman’s Inspection and Monitoring Team gave final presentation about the performance of NAB Lahore during 2015. 

The NAB chairman said NAB operated under the National Accountability Ordinance-1999 which was extended to all of Pakistan, including FATA and Gilgit Baltistan. The NAB has its Headquarters at Islamabad while it has eight Regional Bureaus located at Karachi, Lahore, Pehsawar, Quetta, Sukkur, Multan, Gilgit Baltistan and Rawlapindi. 

Qamar Zaman Chaudhry said the NAB Lahore Regional Bureau was very important Bureau of the NAB. It played a prominent role in contributing towards the overall performance of NAB, he said. In 2015, NAB Lahore received 4,874 complaints which were processed according to the law. NAB Lahore, out of 312 complaints verification (CVs), completed 270 complaint verification. NAB Lahore, out of 341 inquiries, completed 270 whereas out of 211 investigations, NAB Lahore has completed 119 investigations on merit.—APP
