Training must to improve working capacity of legislators: Barjees

ISLAMABAD:Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Ch Muhammad Barjees Tahir on Monday said standing committees not only help parliament in legislation but also ensure monitoring and accountability. He was addressing a two-day workshop entitled “Function and Effectiveness of Parliamentary Committees for Chairpersons,” organized here by Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS).
Various members and Heads of parliamentary committees from GB Legislative Assembly participated.
Executive Director PIPS, Khan Ahmad Goraya and Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly, Wazir Beg were also present on the occasion.
The minister said his office will leave no stone unturned to provide support to GB Assembly and its government, and lauded role of Executive Director PIPS for turning this structure from a building to an institution.
It was his desire to conduct training sessions for the Chairpersons of standing committees for capacity building of members of newly formed assembly.
He reiterated that his office would carry on taking such measures in future to improve working capacity of legislators.
