Senate body passed resolution to restore Youtube

ISLAMABAD: The Functional Committee on Human Rights passed a resolution here on Monday to restore Youtube and decided to take up the matter in Senate considering access of information a basic right of every citizen. The committee, which met here under the chairmanship of Senator Afrasiab Khattak, was apprised that Youtube is not banned in any member state of ‘Organization of Islamic Countries’ and it should also be accessed by our citizens.
The committee also formed a three member sub-committee headed by Senator Farhat Ullah Baber and two Senators as members including Senator Suriya Amir Ud Din and Senator Sehar Kamran to submit a report on missing persons in Balochistan and incident of mass grave found in district Khuzdar of Balochistan.
The members of the body also suggested to make missing persons issue as a permanent agenda item of the committee and decided to give a reception to the delegation of the relatives of missing persons as to how they are travelling on foot from Balochistan to the federal capital to highlight their plight and sufferings.
Inspector General of Police Gilgit Baltistan, Muhammad Saleem Bhatti in his briefing to the functional committee on overall human rights situation in Gilgit Baltistan, stated that four persons including master mind of Nanga Parbat base camp attack were arrested.
He further informed that there are three routes to reach Nanga Parbat base camp which are fully covered and under control of police, adding that on the orders of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif a patent force trained by army would be prepared to ensure peaceful atmosphere in the area.
He informed that around 1500 people would be trained under this initiative in three years.
The GB police official further informed that special steps has been taken to ensure rights of police cops in the area, adding, “it is the only area of the country where a weekly off must be given to all police officials and no one perform more than eights hours duty daily”.
The IG police said that 164 lady police officials are also part of their force. Pointing out the challenges faced by them, he stated that no strength of police officials has been sanctioned for 22 police stations, while 21 police stations did not have their own building and 20 stations did not have any vehicle but, he added, despite all these problems the GB police is performing its duty quite well.
Secretary Kashmir Affairs, informed the meeting that youth festival was organized after the Nanga Parbat incident in the area in which ambassadors and representatives of 22 countries participated and this endeavor disseminated a positive and peaceful message nationally and internationally.
Members of the committee including Senators Afrasiab Khattak, Hidayat Ullah, Sehar Kamran, Mushahid Hussain Syed, Mrs. Nasreen Jalil, Farhat Ullah Baber and Suriya Amir ud Din, officials of government of Sindh, GB, Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and representative of federal and provincial governments attended the committee meeting.
