ISLAMABAD: The Special Court hearing the former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf treason trial appears to have exercised caution by fixing a date for implementing the non-bailable warrant.
HunzaNews March 15th, 2014.
According to Justice (retd) Wajihuddin Ahmed this time neither a hospital nor any other institution would create hurdles in the way of Musharraf’s court appearance on March 31.
Salman Akram Raja, a legal expert, said that Musharraf and his legal team were not taking the court instructions seriously. Consequently, orders had to be issued to arrest and bring him before the court, he added.
On the other hand, lawyer Farogh Naseem described the above orders as a matter of legal routine to present the accused before the court.
Justice (retd) Tariq Mehmood said if Pervez Musharraf failed to appear during March 31 proceedings, he will be arrested and taken to the court. It is not possible for the court to take the proceedings any further without indicting the accused, he added.
