Met Office predicts rain for Upper KP, Parachinar receives 55m rain.
PESHAWAR, Feb 20 (APP): The Meteorological Department on Thursday predicted light rain with snowfall over the hills in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during next 24 hours due to fresh western disturbance affecting northern areas of the country. According to Met office here, a fresh western disturbance is affecting northern areas and is likely to persist during next two days. In next 24 hours, the weather would remain mainly cold and dry in most parts of the country, however, partly cloudy conditions with light rain (snow over hills) is expected at isolated places in upper KP’s Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar and Punjab’s divisions of Rawalpindi, Gujranwalas, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir tonight. As result, Abbottabad, Nathia Gali, Ayubia, Malam Jabba, Kalam valleys in Swat is also expected to receive rain and snowfall over the hills.
Likewise in next 48 hours, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, partly cloudy conditions with chances of rain (snow over the hills) is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
Weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country, however, rain occurred at isolated places in Malakand and Peshawar divisions besides Parachinar Kurram Agency in last 24 hours. The maximum rain was received by Parachinar 55mm followed by Bannu 21mm, Kalam 7mm, Chitral, Dir 4mm, Peshawar 3mm, Mirkhani 2mm, Drosh 1m whereas Kalam received 4 inch snowfall.
The minimum temperature was recorded at Kalat -6 C followed by Skardu, Astore -5 C, Gupis, Quetta and Malamjabba -4 C whereas pollen count yesterday remained as 32 per m3 of air.
