Met office forecast thunderstorm-rain for Hazara, Malakand divisions

PESHAWAR: The Met Office here Wednesday forecast thunderstorm-rain with light snowfall over the hills at isolated places in  Malakand and Hazara divisions during next 24 hours due to a shallow westerly trough prevailing over Kashmir and adjoining areas.According to Met Office, this westerly trough is likely to move to north-east wards during next 12 to 24 hours whereas continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country.In next 24 hours, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, however, partly cloudy weather conditions with rain-thunderstorm with light snow over the hills are expected at isolated places of Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Gujranwala, Malakand and Hazara divisions.
As a result of this Weatherly condition, tourists destinations Kalam, Malam Jabba valleys in Swat district and Nathia Gali, Ayubia in Abbottabad are also expected to receive rain with light snowfall.
The weather of North Balochistan, Upper KP and Punjab is expected to remain cloudy with chances of rain-thunderstorm at isolated places during next 48 hours.However, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country.
In last 24 hours, weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country, however, rain-thunderstorm with light snowfall over the hills occurred at isolated places in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi and Kalat divisions while light rain/drizzle occurred at few places in Quetta, Lahore, Faisalabad and DG Khan divisions.
Muzaffarabad and Pattan Kohistan have received maximum 10mm rain followed by Malamjabba, Murree 8mm, Balakot 6mm, Abbottabad 5mm, Lower Dir, Mirkhani, Saidu Sharif 2mm and Rawalpindi, Khuzdar, Dir 1mm respectively.
The minimum temperature was recorded at Quetta, Kalam 3 C and Malamjabba, Kalat 2 C whereas pollen count yesterday remained as 43 per m3 of air. (APP)
