DROSH, May 9: Speakers at a memorial reference here paid tributes to Khowar’s noted poet and writer late Fidaur Rehman Fida for his literary services.

The reference was organized by Anjuman Taraqi-e-Khowar Drosh in collaboration with the South Asia Partnership Programe’s ‘Awaz Programme’ and Young Star Development Organization at the C&W rest house.
Fidaur Rehman died in 2009 at the age of 55. He was an active member of the Ajuman and also remained the president of the Anjuman Taraqi-e-Khowar Drosh.
In the first part of the daylong reference, the participants offered prayers for the soul of the poet and laid wreaths at his tomb. Later, a seminar was held where the poets and other participants highlighted the services of Fidaur Rehman for the promotion and preservation of the Khowar language and culture.
In the second part, a Mushaira was held in which poets from different parts of the valley took part. Shah Mehmood was the chief guest while the Mushaira was presided over by Aminur Rehman Chughtai.–Jahan Zeb Rahi
