GILGIT: Serious disparities have surfaced inside the ranks of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Gilgit-Baltistan as a number of leaders have made serious attempts to eliminate regional president Mr. Hafeez ur Rahman. The circumstances is similar to the one faced by Chief Minister G-B Syed Mehdi Shah, president of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), whose party associates are trying to expel him earlier than the region’s polls take place.

The pressure group against Rahman is led by Mr. Janbaz Khan, a PML-N higher-ranking who is also the opposition leader in G-B’s legislative assembly. Janbaz has started mobilizing the top leadership in Islamabad and Lahore to oust Rahman, Said in Express Tribune.
Janbaz’s party association was suspended lately after he sided with Mehdi Shah on the Gilgit-Baltistan election schedule.
Mehdi Shah remains opposite to holding votes in 2014, even as Rahman has been pressing for polls in October while the PPP government’s term will be over about December.
Mehdi Shah has time and once more praised Khan’s position point and termed him a true delegate of PML-N. According to the internal report Janbaz has too been joined by almost a dozen discontented mid-level party leaders in his mission to take out the regional PML-N president.
However, the condition is not so straightforward and Hafeezur Rahman is well-established in the party as of his ties with the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other higher-ranking leaders.
Janbaz is amongst the leaders who abandoned PML-N to join PML-Q as Musharraf was in power. However, he directed to get back into the party following the fall of Musharraf’s government in 2008.
“Party discipline is meant for all and we should all abide by it,” said Rahman when asked to comment on the situation.
