Gilgit: Captain Shafi, a leader of the Awami Action Committee, and others were released on bail today. They had been arrested yesterday on charges of disturbing law and order. HunzaNews  March 13th, 2014.

Captain (r) Shafi said that all the people of Gilgit-Baltistan have come together for rights and any efforts to sabotage the movement will have dire consequences.

The Awami Action Committee (AAC) has created a major political challenge for the incumbent government by mobilizing tens of thousands of people in all seven districts in favor of their charter of demands. On 10th March  the entire Gilgit-Baltistan was locked down on the call of the Awami Action Committee, which has emerged as a formidable political force in a very short span of time.

Lead by Ehsan Ali Advocate and supported by all notable religious, social and political leaders, members of the AAC Executive Body had yesterday warned of offering voluntary arrests if it leaders and workers were not released.
