JERUSALEM: Ariel Sharon, the former Israeli general and prime minister , died on Saturday aged 85, Israeli Army Radio said, quoting a relative of his family.
He had been in a coma for eight years after he had a stroke while at the height of power.
Sharon served as prime minister from 2001 to 2006.
