ISLAMABAD:Pakistan and Argentina have signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the education sector and to promote investment.

HunzaNew April 5th, 2014.

The MoUs were signed at the foreign ministry on Thursday by visiting Argentine Foreign Secretary Eduardo Antonio Zuain and the secretaries of the education ministry and the Board of Investment, on behalf of Pakistani government.

The agreements are expected to bring investment into Pakistan and help education initiatives of the federal government, Pakistani and Argentine officials said while speaking to The Express Tribune at a reception hosted by the Argentine Ambassador to Pakistan Rodolfo J Martin-Saravia

During his visit, Zuain held meetings with officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also called on the Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq at the parliament house to discuss bilateral relations.

Pakistani foreign office officials, who attended the reception, said work on the bilateral agreements had been going on for a while. The MoUs will provide a basic structure to guide support for the education sector and activities for investment promotion, they said. During the informal discussions at the reception, the diplomatic community seemed skeptical of the government’s efforts, without directly voicing opposition to the ongoing peace talks.
