DALLAS: Sheikh Entertainment and Purbi Entertainment of Dallas hosted a musical evening with visiting Indian playback singer and vocalist Altaf Raja.

The event was attended by a large number of Dallas residents.
Visiting singer from Atlanta Sonia Bharti also presented her style of singing with Lata Mangeshkar’s top of the chart songs, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.
Later, when Altaf Raja took the stage he electrified the whole banquet hall. They brought with them all qawwali and other musical instruments. His group of musicians included Hamid Ansari, Mangesh Sawant, Saqib Akashi, Rashid Mohammad, Abdul Ghani, Sameer Sura, and Pareshes Munshi who warmed the event with their music. Altaf Raja with his unique singing style mesmerized the hall through his presentations.
His famous song “pahlay to kabhi kabhi ghum tha, ab to her pal teri yaad satati hay”, “Ja bewafa ja hamein pyar na karna, aisey hi jee lainge hum”, “Awara hawa ka jhonka hoon aa nikla hun do pal ke liye”. Gum judai yoon too bohat door tha Mager door tak hath pher bhee hullaba para” ” Tum too thairay pardasi sath kya nibhoo gay” ” aik dard sabhi ko hoota hay” “Dil na roo” and others.
His performance included several Indian film songs, qawwalis, and ghazals, which kept people up for four hours and throwing accolades on him. His performance had happy and sad songs which touched the audience’s special chord.
Altaf Raja also brought her mother Shamim Bano who was touring US with him. The program promoters Amir Makhani and Akbar Pirani welcomed the invited guests of the evening.
Earlier Altaf Raja while talking to Jang/ Geo correspondent said that he is visiting US after 14 years. He said wherever he goes he is getting appreciation from Pakistanis and Indians alike.
He said that any performer, artist, singer, intellectual or cultural and business leaders are ambassador of that nation. He said that he has brought message of love from India.
He said he appreciates the efforts of Aman ki Asha from Jang/ Geo of Pakistan and Times of India which is real wishes of people from both countries.
He said that it is necessary for people from all walks of life to work on spreading harmony between these two countries. He said the world has gone quite ahead and Pakistan and India are busy fighting with each other which is quite counterproductive, so “Aman ki Asha is a genuinely productive efforts.
A sumptuous dinner was also offered at this special event.
