Vienna (Austria), May 25 (ANI): The Europe-wide Signature Campaign of Junaid Qureshi, a Kashmiri writer, international human rights activist and a senior leader of the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Liberation Party (JKDLP) in various European cities to create awareness regarding the Kashmir issue in general and in particular vis-a-vis the proposed annexation of Gilgit-Baltistan by Pakistan and the “illegal construction” of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, is gaining support from all quarters.

On May 21 and 22, a signature campaign was held in Vienna, Austria.

Khan Wajahat from Gilgit Baltistan (Ex-Chairman All Parties National Alliance – APNA and son of Col. Mirza Khan of Gilgit) came to the venue of the Signature Campaign in Vienna city centre, to personally congratulate Junaid Qureshi for this unique and successful signature campaign.

Naeem Khan from Jammu (Chairman Kashmir Culture Centre Vienna and President Europe-zone of Kashmir National Party – KNP) also joined the Signature Campaign and expressed his support.

Both leaders signed the petition and expressed their support and appreciation for the laborious efforts of JKDLP to create awareness regarding the Kashmir-issue, proposed annexation of Gilgit Baltistan and the construction of CPEC.

Hundreds of signatures were collected at the Schwedenplatz (main city centre) in Vienna and thousands of pamphlets and flyers were distributed to the European public. European volunteers joined the campaign in order to show solidarity with the human rights of the people living in Gilgit Baltistan.

Junaid Qureshi was satisfied regarding the progress of the Signature Campaign. “Hundreds of signatures were already collected in the first leg of the signature campaign in The Netherlands and Brussels. The people of Vienna have shown great interest in the issue and expressed their support by signing the petition with hundreds. We hope to gather the same positive response from the public in Geneva, Paris and various cities of UK”.

Junaid Qureshi further added, “It is very encouraging to see that leaders from Gilgit Baltistan, Jammu and the rest of Jammu & Kashmir are coming out in support of this campaign. Although, we might be divided back home, this campaign has brought people of the different regions of Jammu & Kashmir together. We will continue to build bridges and are hopeful that many more will be joining us in our efforts.

It is very important to bring all the people of Jammu & Kashmir together as the whole of Jammu & Kashmir belongs to its people and only the people of Jammu & Kashmir should decide its future after building a consensus among each other. Such annexation attempts complimented with intrusions by China will only further the divide and as such exacerbate the already deep complexities of the Kashmir-Issue. We all must raise our voice against it”.

He appealed to the people, “We appeal every Kashmiri and all other people, irrespective of political ideology, caste, creed and religion to support our efforts against the further division of our motherland.(aninews.in)
