High flood of 600,000-700,000 cusecs is likely to flow through River Chenab at Punjnad from Friday to Monday, Radio Pakistan reported on Wednesday as the death toll from the floods reached 257.

According to flood forecasting division in Lahore, under these conditions Districts Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal, Layyah, Muzaffargarh and Multan are likely to be inundated.
Districts Multan, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh are likely to be inundated due to the second wave in River Chenab, with a peak resulting in exceptionally high flood of 600,000 cusecs at Trimmu for next 24-48 hours with a likely peak discharge of 800,000 cusecs, till Friday night. All concerned authorities have been warned to take all necessary measures to avoid any loss of life and property.
River Ravi is also in high flood at Balloki.
The Punjab Highway Department has announced that 20 roads are closed in the province for traffic due to the recent rain flooding.
These roads include: Sialkot-Kingra-Zafarwal road, Pasror-Narowal road, Narowal to Lahore via Baddomalhi road, Sheikhupura- District part of the Muridke-Narowal Road, Sahiwal-Shahpur-Bhera Road, Rawalpindi-Lehtrar Kotli Sattian road in the District Rawalpindi, Jhang, Chiniot road, Jhang-Sahiwal- Sargodha road, Faisalabad-Sargodha road via Chiniot, Link Road Sargodha road to Chiniot road via Pakkaywalay road, and Lahore-Jaranwala-Faisalabad-Jhang- Bhakkar road.
Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed has said that all possible resources would be utilised to compensate the damages and rehabilitate the rain and flood affected people of AJK.
Talking to media in Muzaffarabad on Wednesday, Majeed said all the important roads closed due to landslides have been opened while survey has been initiated to estimate the damages.
According to data released by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Wednesday, death toll has reached 257, while number of those injured due to the floods and monsoon rains has climbed to 461.
Nearly 1,121,987 people have been affected so far, while the number of houses damaged partially and fully are 9,515 and 2,928 respectively. Crops on 667,459 acres have also been affected.
