50 KV micro hydro power house completed by SRSP in Kalash Valley

The second 50 KV micro hydro power house was completed in Bumborat Valley, Kalash, by by Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP) with financial support from the European Union Program for Economic Advancement and Community Empowerment (PEACE). 350 households are expected to benefit from the project. Earlier, a 50 KV micro hydro power house (MHP) and 250 KV power house had been constructed in the valley by SRSP.
During the inauguration ceremony local notables including Ghulam Hazrat Advocate, Subadar Rahmat Karim and others thanked SRSP for rendering meritorious services for uplifting of this backward area. They demanded construction of protection bund on the bank of Bumborat river to protect cultivable land and populated area of the valley. They also demanded for construction of big power house of 5 megawatt to overcome on energy crises in Chitral Town.
The speakers also demanded construction of a bridge on the river to restore the linkage. They also said that an irrigation channel needs to be repaired to help supply of water to 25 housholds.
They also demanded provision of electriicyt to the residents of Aneesh and Brone village. They thanked Denis Cassat country director of French Donor Agency who will likely donate some 1 billion rupees for construction of more hydro power houses.
Tariq Ahmad district Program Manager briefed the people about different developmental schemes launched by SRSP in Chitral.
MNA Chitral Shahzada Iftikharuddin, Chief Executive officer SRSP Shahzada Masoodul Mulk, Deputy Commissioner Chitral Ameenul Haq, Member board of Director Ihsanullah Khan and others also spoke on the occasion. CEO SRSP Shahzada Masoodul Mulk said that they already had completed 50 KV micro hydro power house and 250 KV at upper part of Bumborat which was up-graded to 300 KV.
He said that power house will supply electricity to saw machines, hotel and other commercial places along with domestic consumers and the money earned from commercial consumes will be spent on the maintenance of these power houses. A large number of people attended the ceremony.
