12 newspapers in Gilgit-Baltistan shut down printing to protest non-payment of govt dues

Gilgit: Twelve newspapers in Gilgit-Baltistan have announced shutting down printing for two days, starting tomorrow (Friday). The decision was announced today after a meeting of the GB Newspapers Society today.

The owners and representatives of the newspapers said that the government has not paid their dues for the last many years. They said that around 50 million rupees unpaid.

In the absence of corporate and private sector, the newspapers heavily rely on advertisements from different government departments and ministries
